Ionizing Radiation
Ionizing radiation has a great harm to human body. Owing to the radiation is invisible and the radioactive dust is extremely small and difficult to detect, as a result, the victim may unknowingly be over-irradiated or inhaled a lot of radiation dust. Excessive irradiation or inhalation of a large amount of radioactive dust in a short time can cause acute radiation sickness. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and hair loss can occur and hematopoietic function, digestive system and nervous system may also be abnormal. The long-term over-accumulation of radionuclides in the body can cause chronic radiation sickness, like cancer and malformation.
Although radiation may cause health hazards, epidemiological investigation shows low-dose radiation, within the range of natural background radiation, is not harmful to the human body or has a low risk.
